How to Create a Trending 3D Memories Recap Video in Alight Motion (Easy XML Method)
Creating cinematic 3D Memories Recap videos has become a huge trend on Instagram and YouTube Shorts. These videos feel emotional, smooth, and professional—and the best part is that you don’t need advanced editing skills to make them.
In this guide, I’ll show you a shortcut XML-based method to create a stunning 3D memory recap video using Alight Motion, step by step. This method is beginner-friendly, fast, and perfect for anyone who wants viral results with minimal effort.
What Is a 3D Memories Recap Video?
A 3D Memories Recap video is a motion-based slideshow where photos move in a cinematic 3D space with smooth camera animations and emotional music. These videos are widely used for:
- Personal memories
- Birthday or friendship recaps
- Instagram reels
- YouTube shorts
Many creators think this kind of editing is difficult, but with the XML shortcut, it becomes extremely easy.
Requirements Before You Start
Before editing, make sure you have the following:
- Alight Motion app installed from the Play Store
- An XML project file (download link is usually shared by the creator)
- Your selected photos
- One trending memory recap music/video
That’s all you need.
Step 1: Open Alight Motion and Use the XML Shortcut
Open the Alight Motion app. When the interface loads, you’ll see multiple options.
Normally, people create projects manually using the “+” button, but in this tutorial we’re using a shortcut method.
- Tap on Upload Project
- This option allows you to import a full project directly
Step 2: Import the XML File
After clicking upload:
- Tap on the menu (three lines) icon
- Go to your Downloads folder
- Locate the XML file you downloaded earlier
If you don’t see it immediately:
- Sort files by Newest First
- The XML file will appear at the top
Select the XML file. As soon as you select it, Alight Motion will open a screen asking you to replace media.
Step 3: Replace Photos in the Project
Now comes the easiest part.
- Tap on the first placeholder
- Select your photo
- Tap Done
- Repeat the same process for all placeholders
Simply replace every image one by one. Once all photos are added, tap Next and the project will open fully.
At this stage, your 3D memory animation is already created.
Step 4: Enable Camera and Preview the Animation
Inside the project, you’ll notice a camera icon.
- Turn the camera ON
- This enables 3D motion and depth
Now preview the project. You’ll see smooth animations and transitions between photos.
Step 5: Adjust Images If Needed
Sometimes, a photo may not align perfectly.
To fix this:
- Turn off the camera temporarily
- Select the image layer
- Go to the Edit Group
- Adjust scale and position manually
Do this only for images that don’t look right. After adjusting, turn the camera back ON.
Step 6: Remove Default Audio
Most XML files don’t include music, or they contain placeholder audio.
- Select the existing audio layer
- Delete it completely
This clears space for your own trending music.
Step 7: Add Trending Memory Recap Music
Now add your music:
- Tap the + icon
- Go to Media
- Select the trending memory recap video (downloaded earlier)
- Add it to the timeline
Once added:
- Tap on the video
- Select Extract Audio
- Delete the video layer
Now only the audio remains, perfectly synced with your visuals.
Step 8: Final Preview and Export
Play the full video once.
If any image looks slightly off, adjust it using the same method explained earlier.
When everything looks perfect:
- Tap on Export
- Choose your preferred resolution (1080p recommended)
- Export the video
Your 3D Memories Recap video is now ready to upload on Instagram or YouTube.
This XML shortcut method makes creating professional 3D memory videos incredibly simple. You don’t need complex keyframes or manual camera animation—everything is already built into the project.
